Power of attorney Dubai Wafi Mall: where to sign

Notarial acts in the UAE are regulated by Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022 on the regulation of the notary profession. In Dubai, notaries public are regulated by Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013. Dubai has a Government notary public at Dubai Courts and licensed private notaries on a roll kept by Dubai Courts.

A private notary in Dubai is a lawyer licensed by Dubai Courts to carry out notarial acts. If you want to sign in a particular building, ask the office first whether it can do your document there. Our own options are below.

  1. In person. Come to our Business Bay office and sign before our in-house notary public.
  2. Online. Sign by video. The Ministry of Justice also runs the E-Notary System for remote notarisation, which is a separate government channel.
  3. Home visit. We come to you. A home visit is quoted on request.

General or special POA

A general POA gives broad powers, and a special POA names the act. Under Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, agency is in Articles 866 to 903. General and special agency are in Articles 869 to 871. Any act that is not management and preservation needs a special agency that names the act, such as a sale.

That matters for the common cases. A power of attorney for car sale in Dubai, or for car registration and car title transfer, is a special POA that names the car and the act. A power of attorney for legal proceedings names the case. Read more on our pages for vehicle power of attorney and court case power of attorney.

Watch for

Mistakes to avoid

  • A POA in general terms when the receiving office wants a named act.
  • Names that differ from the passport.
  • Signing before the notary appointment.
  • No Arabic text. In Dubai a notarised instrument is in Arabic or comes with a certified Arabic translation.
  • Forgetting attestation for use abroad.
