Personal legal document notarization in Dubai: consents, NOCs, affidavits and declarations
The short answer
Personal legal document notarization in Dubai covers the letters and statements that a school, airline, embassy, immigration office or court asks you to have notarised: a parent's travel consent, a no objection letter, an affidavit of support, a declaration of where you live. We draft the document, and our in-house notary public notarises it in person at Business Bay, online, or at your home. Service is available 24/7.

At a glance
Send what the receiving office asked for on WhatsApp +971 52 947 5935, and we reply with the document, the notary act and your price.
The notary records what a person signs of their own free will. The notary does not decide a dispute or sign for someone who refuses.
A statement you swear is an affidavit: AED 300 on the federal schedule. A letter you sign is a signature authentication: AED 200 per party (Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024, items 12 and 8).
A notarised instrument in Dubai is in Arabic. An English document needs an Arabic translation by a certified translator, signed with the original (Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013, Article 27).
For use abroad, MOFAIC attestation usually follows notarisation. The UAE is not a party to the Apostille Convention.

Side by side
Which document, who signs, which act
| Document | Who signs | Usual notary act | Who reads it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Travel consent for a child | The parent who is not travelling | Signature authentication, affidavit or POA | Airline, immigration |
| NOC for a child's visa | The father, when the mother sponsors | Signature authentication or affidavit | Immigration authority |
| NOC letter | Employer, sponsor, spouse or parent | Often a signed letter; notarised when asked | Employer, immigration, embassy |
| Affidavit of support | The person promising support | Affidavit | Embassy, immigration |
| Declaration of residency | The person declaring where they live | Affidavit or signature authentication | Foreign tax, pension, school |
| Signature on a form | The person named on the form | Signature authentication | Whoever issued the form |
The receiving office's wording decides the act. A form that says "sworn before a notary" needs an affidavit. A letter that needs a trusted signature needs a signature authentication. We read their instructions first.
Personal legal document notarization Dubai: the documents we handle
Travel consent.
A parent who stays behind signs a consent naming the child, the travelling adult, the destination and the dates. If the other parent is abroad or refuses, see the child travel consent and POA guide.
NOC letters.
Our NOC letter guide sorts them by signer. A no objection letter from a sponsor to travel follows the same rule: the sponsor signs, and the receiving office decides if a signature is enough.
Affidavits.
A written statement you swear is true. Name spelling, proof of support and marital status statements each need their own wording.
Declarations.
Close to an affidavit but often only signed. The usual one is the declaration of residency.
Signatures on forms.
Bank forms and foreign government forms only need the notary to confirm the signature is yours.
Step by step
Steps

Send us the receiving office's request.
Its words decide the format.
We draft it.
Names exactly as in the passport, dates, addresses and the statement in plain words.
We prepare the Arabic through a legal translator registered with the UAE Ministry of Justice. You approve the draft.
Our in-house notary public notarises it.
You sign or swear at Business Bay, in an online session, or at home with our home visit service.
We tell you what comes next, usually MOFAIC attestation if the document goes abroad.
Checklist
What to bring
What to bring
- Your original passport, and Emirates ID if you live in the UAE.
- The passport or Emirates ID copy of every person named, such as the child.
- The receiving office's instructions or form.
- Papers the statement refers to: a tenancy contract, salary certificate or birth certificate.
When the person who must sign will not
A notary can only record a signature or statement given freely. If a father will not sign a child's NOC, or a parent will not consent to travel, no notary can sign in their place. What remains is an application to the personal status court at Dubai Courts, usually through a lawyer. That lawyer needs a POA naming pleading before the court. See the court case power of attorney.

How we help
How we help
We have an in-house notary public at our Business Bay office, and we offer in person, online and home visit notary public services in Dubai and the UAE. We draft the wording the receiving office expects and choose the notary act that matches it. If someone else must sign and will not, we say so plainly rather than prepare a document that will be refused.
Questions
Questions about personal documents
What is the difference between an affidavit and a declaration?
An affidavit is sworn before the notary. A declaration is often only signed, and the notary authenticates the signature. The receiving office decides which you need.
Does a notary public affidavit need to be in Arabic?
In Dubai, yes. The instrument is in Arabic, or English with an Arabic translation by a certified translator, both signed.
Can someone sign a consent or NOC for another person?
Only with a power of attorney that expressly gives them that act.
Do I need a notary for every NOC?
No. Many NOCs need only the signer's signature and stamp. Notarisation is needed when the receiving office asks for it.
Can I notarise a document while I am outside the UAE?
Yes: through an online session where your document qualifies, a UAE consul where you live, or a local notary plus attestation by that country's foreign ministry, the UAE embassy there and MOFAIC.
