Who signs and who acts
The heirs are the principals. The person they choose is the agent. It can be one heir, a relative, or a lawyer. If there are several heirs, the agent can hold one POA signed by all of them, or a separate POA from each heir. One shared document is easier to hand over. Separate ones suit heirs who live in different countries.
The agent acts only for the heirs who signed. If one heir does not sign, the agent has no power for that heir.

Give the full name of the person who died, and the file or case number if you have one. Take special care over settlement and sale. Both are acts the law puts under a special agency, so give them only to someone you trust.

Questions
Questions about inheritance power of attorney
Do all heirs have to sign the same POA?
No. Each can sign separately. The agent then holds a POA from each heir.
Can a lawyer be the agent?
Yes. Many heirs name a lawyer, especially for a court case.
Does the POA decide who gets what?
No. It only gives the agent the acts written in it. Shares are decided by the law and the court or authority handling the estate.
Can the agent sell the property of the person who died?
Only with a special POA that names the sale, and only if the property can be sold at that stage. The authority handling the estate decides.
What happens if an heir dies while the POA is running?
The agency for that heir ends (Article 897). Tell the agent and the authority.
